Namib Desert, Namibia, Southern Africa. The Namib Desert stretches more than 1,200 miles along the Atlantic coast of Africa.
 
Southerly winds along that Namibian coast carry beach sand that piles up, creating the immense dune field.
 
These dunes are the tallest in the world, rising almost 1,000 feet above the desert floor in places.
