Text, NEWS FROM THE UNIVERSE.

An image shows disk-shaped galaxies in white, red, and blue against a starry sky.

HUBBLE AND WEBB'S COMBINED VIEW OF GALAXY CLUSTER. GALAXY CLUSTER MACS0416. NOVEMBER 20, 2023. A new image created by combining data from NASA's Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes is bringing extremely distant features to light for the first time.

(SPEECH)

(DESCRIPTION)
Some galaxies in the image have swirling and elongated shapes.

Text, MACS0416 is a pair of colliding galaxy clusters that will eventually combine to form an even bigger cluster.

A magnification over the image shows a red streak labeled, Mothra.

Text, Scientists discovered new transients, or objects that change in brightness over time, in this image.

One transient, called "Mothra," was detected in a background galaxy.

Mothra is magnified by a factor of at least 4,000 by the galaxy cluster, which is so massive it warps space and magnifies the light passing through it.

Mothra resembles a red line with glowing orbs inside it.
