Text, NASA's TESS mission has completed a year-long survey of the sky observable from the northern hemisphere, providing astronomers with a wealth of detailed data.

Astronomers use TESS to detect slight dimming of a star's brightness that indicates a planet is passing in front of it, blocking some of its light.
TESS has discovered 74 confirmed exoplanets and another 1,200 exoplanet candidates, 600 of which are in the northern sky.
A sky map plots positions of hundreds of exoplanets.
text, TESS's discoveries pave the way for follow-up by future missions including NASA's Webb Telescope, launching in 2021, which will study exoplanet atmospheres in detail.
