The mission took advantage of solar minimum - the point during the Sun's 11 year cycle when its activity is lowest.

NASA's Parker Solar Probe passed close to the Sun, directly between it and Earth, collecting data on solar wind emission. Stereo Credit NASA.

Composite images of solar activity.

Text, Days later, that same wind arrived at Earth, and then Mars, where other observatories could measure it, too.

The multi-mission collaboration will give scientists one of the most complete pictures ever of solar outflow and its effects.

Scientists are just beginning to study the data in depth and discover all the insights it has to offer.
